Maunsel Street is located in the heart of Westminster it comprises mainly of small Georgian town houses which lead to the green at Vincent Square.

The client brief on this project was to create space and flexibility throughout, tuning the house to modern living whilst maintaining its existing charm.

A substantial renovation was programmed over a 5 month period. An occasional third bedroom was created with the addition of a floor-to-ceiling 5 leaf folding oak concertina door, to section off the large 1st floor living room when required.

The staircase at first floor level was enclosed to promote privacy and align with modern building safety standards, this was achieved with fire rated floor to ceiling glazed double doors, which allow a view through from front to back.

Wherever possible any original primary or secondary structure was retained and restored, any new interventions are clearly defined to complement and enhance the existing building.

This is particularly evident in the kitchen dining room with the addition of single run of kitchen and the addition of metal double glazed windows and doors to the lower ground floor bedroom access and the garden room.

The garden room has been overhauled with a new ventilated slate roof, fully insulated walls and ceiling, underfloor heating, oak flooring and the provision of hidden laundry/ utility area, creating a multi functioning play room, study or home office.
