CDA and other practices design Truman Brewery revamp

‘Morris+Company, Carmody Groarke, Henley Halebrown and Chris Dyson Architects are all working alongside Buckley Gray Yeoman (BGY) on a regeneration masterplan for Truman Brewery in east London.

Each of the five practices has produced sketched proposals for different parts of the Spitalfields site, unveiled in a new set of consultation documents published this month.

Also on the project team alongside leading masterplan architects BGY are landscape architects Spacehub, development manager Grow Places and Arup as sustainability consultant.

The new proposals will ‘open up’ the historic site, according to the design team, with ‘sensitive, high-quality architecture’ incorporating 50 new homes as well as workspaces, exhibition and events spaces, shops, cafés, bars, and public realm improvements such as new pedestrian routes.

The iconic Grade II-listed building just off Brick Lane known as The Boiler House, currently used for events and exhibitions, would be extended and upgraded to create additional space for the same uses under designs by Chris Dyson Architects.’
