Crystal palace park café officially open

Our cafe was officially open on Monday, by deputy mayor for planning, regeneration and skills Jules Pipe CBE, and Councillor Peter Morgan.

Mr Pipe, said: “I am really pleased to see this new café and community space open. This marks the final phase of the programme of immediate improvement work in the park by the London Borough of Bromley, to which the Mayor contributed £2 million – the biggest investment by the Mayor in a borough-run park in a decade. I’m sure this will become a popular attraction for locals and visitors.” Source.

Councillor Peter Morgan, executive member for renewal, recreation and housing added: ”I am sure that local residents and visitors to the park alike will enjoy the exceptional new park café.” Source.

The previous café generated £30,000pa in rent, while the new café’s rent starts at £54,000pa, rising to £65,000pa in 5 years’ time. All rent above the £30,000 previously earned has been ring fenced for the maintenance of the park’s dinosaur sculptures and wider park maintenance.

The GLA’s employment target for the café was 4 full time jobs, and we are happy to announce that the café has created 7 full time and 20 part time jobs.
